As I build up Screaming Pods, my goal is to be much more that just an “Entertainment Delivery Service.” While movies & popular culture are very much a part of my life, I tend to also gravitate to conversations about the deeper meanings of life. Which is why podcasts like The Life After are very important to my weekly podcast listening schedule. Brady Hardin and Chuck Parson are building a community of people disenfranchised from toxic religion. Through their own escape from Fundamentalist Christianity, The Life After began as documentation of this journey in the hopes they could also help others going through the same thing.

“Leaving religion can be scary. You don’t have to do it alone.”

Brady and Chuck have gone above and beyond just providing a podcast. The Life After can also be a tool for many people who have gone through a deconstruction of their faith. Religious Trauma Syndrome is very real and is something I didn’t realize I was even going through on my own personal journey. Through the many conversations on the podcast, Religious Trauma Syndrome is referred to regularly. Their message: “You’re not alone. You can get through this.”

The Life After stands out from the crowd of Atheist/Agnostic/Post-Faith podcasts for many reasons. One of the main reasons this podcast stood out for me was the level of empathy Brady and Chuck bring to the table. This isn’t an ANTI-RELIGION podcast. The hosts have a genuine respect for many different belief systems, but they do confront toxic religion and belief systems. This subtle difference has been the reason I have continued to listen to this well-produced and engaging show. I hope all of you will give The Life After a listen and if you love it please spread the word!
